Be honest Reg...I know, I'm an old fart...and the music, to your ears is probably old-fashioned, but you're being polite, and I thank  you for that. 

Musically I  have  always  found their early stuff, fresh, "crisp"sounding, and vibrant (energy).  Later, I think they were  often too stoned, and the stuff, though cerebral, dragged...I especially hate the way Ringo's drums seemed to "thud" and drag behind the beat, in the later recordings.  The guitar playing, especially the fuzz tone, was often annoying, and the singing wasn't  nearly as tight.  You could of course argue that the songwriting was much more inventive...it's just that I didn't like the "sound" as much.
