Well, I agree, triple-E, but this is a nation that reacts with hysteria to just about everything, and I don't think the Bushies are the only trigger to hysteria. 

The very mention of any "event" large or small, favorable or catastrophic, has the "American People" (that amorphous mass of single-minded humanity, which politicians would have us believe, actually exists), rushing about like lemmings towards the waters of hope or the cliff-edge of suicidal destiny.
