OK, Reg, fair enough and well stated but:
Where the United States gets its balls cut off is when it insists on something like this for Iran but says nothing about Israel. This is also a big reason why animosity builds toward the United States in these Muslim countries. We are one sided and it is so obvious it's outrageous.
Like DUH... tell me you just realized that....
Yes, there is an obvious double standard (that's right dude, it's not fair...aw shucks..) but Israel is not a hostile nation to the US and the Muslim countries are. Is this a Catch-22, because of US support of Israel in the first place? Defi-Natalie, but you've got to be extremely naive, not to see the obvious: it is strategically very important for the US to support Israel militarily and to not say "anything" about Israel's nukes (and they already have 'em, but are lagging a bit behind in the launching systems). The US needs Israel as a military power/ally in the MidEast and Israel needs the US. (Kinda like the relationship between the 2 roomies in Apartment ZERO..actually the analogy is not that far off). This is a fact of the current US position in the MidEast (and likely to remain so, at least for the remainder of my lifetime, and probably yours as well) . OIL is certainly at the root of the US position, not love of the Jewish people, I can assure you. If Israel was located near Madagascar, the US wouldn't give 2 shits if she were annihilated off the face of the earth. No matter which US administration is holding the reigns, the US govt position will be support of Israel (whether it is stated publically as such or not). Madame President might say all sorts of nasty things about Israel, when she is elected, but the government postion in the final analysis will be continued support.
Look at any world power over the centuries and you will see 2 things which feed the machine, until the machine stops working:
1. Territorial acquisition and expansion 2. Commodity acquistion.
So whether it's OIL, Opium, Tea, or Cotton....the US is really not doing anything different from all the other world powers that have dominated the planet....her race will be run someday, but not too soon.
P.S. I never said you were a proponent of anti-semitism, but you have stated repeatedly a stance against Israel, or as you have clarified "the Israeli Government". I understand the distinction.
