"Really? The New york Times goes under the motto "all the NEWS thats fit to print", and they very obviously have an agenda apart from thier editorial page. Same with the Chicago Tribune, LA times, WSJ etc. Peter Jennings is a news reader and he also very obviously tilts things to his point of view."
Don't be frightened GA. I'm not some spook working for the vast left-wing media conspiracy. There is bias in the media on both sides. I have no appreciation for either. Reporters who twist or slant things because they wish to forward an agenda are no longer reporting they are proselytizing. When this happens it's important to recognize it and define it as what it is. In case you missed it I called the corporate media a whorehouse. What I mean is they don't serve us but they do want us to suck their teat. Get it?
"Whether you think O'Reilly is "news" or not is irrelevant."
What I think is irrelevant? Ok, to you perhaps this may be true and probably to many others as well but here's some news for you...Billy O's show is talk and opinion and is actually entertainment. That is if you're entertained by it. It's a sad state of affairs when there are factions of the general public that could confuse it as news.
"What exactly is your definition of news? Who? Where? Who is informing now? I notice that you didn't answer that question. I dont see O'Reilly doing anything different than the others, with the exception that he is more obvious about it.So who is this oh-so-holy news source that is the model of objectivity and information-handling? Tell us all so we can share in it as well."
To clear things up for you GA, I don't have a news source that I hold as dear as the bible. I think I've stated that already more than once. I read the papers, the Boston Globe, the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, some on-line stuff randomly, I listen to the radio, not much tv intake though, if I have it on I like to watch a movie or sporting event. I don't much care for any tv reporters, it has become a bit too show-biz for me. I try to interpret what I hear, read, or see as best I can but as with any of us I'm sure that information is "reflected through a glass darkly" of my own inner turmoil. I'm as screwed up as the next guy. So if you'd like me to hand you the Grail I can't. I can tell you though if you're looking for it, Billy O is a waste of your time.
Peace Brother,
Reg
p.s. I know David recently wrote that he's a bit broken up with the state of things. I can relate to that but thankfully I guess for me it has not randomly reduced me to tears. I think recent events in my life though have left me a bit emotionally drained so I don't think at this point in time I'm capable of tears. The world could be a better place though and the romantic in me says it will at some point. That's called hope I guess. I hope you sort things out for yourself GA.
