While I am happy his endorsement will greatly help Obama in many different ways, I also feel that if a singular person existed that could have stopped the Iraq War from starting, it could have been Powell. My opinion is that Powell could have spoke the truth and his stature would have caused many, many people, and especially the media, to stop and take a second look at Bush's march to war and offer a much larger amount of scrutiny to Bush's reasons for war and possibly draw a different conclusion. When I sat there and watched his speech to the UN, I knew it was full of lies and bullshit simply from earlier carefully following unbiased sources and reports. But everyone bought his bullshit vials of poison, drone planes and horrific nuclear scenarios created by Bush, Inc. On a happy note, I think his endorsement will now slowly start to reveal how the Republican Party truly feels about race in America. These people will most likely start tearing Powell a new ass, which will again start to reveal that the Republican Party only allows those different ones in their tent as long as they stand in the corner, shut up and only nod their head in appropriateness. Watch, because McCain is going to fuck this up too (I think he has all ready started by making some sort of tepid response that "he's not surprised" - if true, that seems to me he is sort of saying, "what'd you expect, they are both black").
