VH vs Van Hagar

I saw VH with DLR three times, and saw Van Hagar once. The three times I saw the original VH were all good shows, though in two of them Diamond Dave was so shitfaced he couldn't remember the lyrics to the songs. Part of the problem is that these shows were all in Madison, where the band had established a precedence for absolute mayhem. Read the liner notes to VH II: ~"to the Sheraton Inn, 7th floor, Madison" or so... they got so wrecked they trashed the whole top floor of the place. I think green M&Ms were involved as well.
The Van Hagar show I saw was on the 5150 tour, a performance at the Cotton Bowl before 80K. It was easily one of the best hard rock shows I've ever seen, and by far the best of the VH shows. Sammy was absolutely spectacular.
