As a matter of fact --- EVH has always stated in interviews that he felt more influenced by ERIC CLAPTON than JIMI HENDRIX.

While this comment may be nothing more than deflecting the obvious JIMI influence --- nonetheless --- EVH has made this comment in numerous interviews over the years.

I agree 10,000% that JIMI is as important as MOZART --- however, it remained that EVH ended up with the kid named WOLFGANG
