I didn't know about the Lakota connection to the land Rushmore is built on.

It truly is the insult you depict and lament and rail against.

As for your opinion about the values this country was founded upon, I agree that all those vices and elements of corruption of body and soul you cite, played a role in our founding. No doubt!

The documents that underly this social contract we are born into were written and ratified by men of good intentions, being smart enough to include a judiciary as one of the checks, not only on the other two departments of our government, but also on the greed, corruption, murder, slavery, and all the other sins of man you subtract yourself from, for which I'm glad, mind you, for I was getting lonely.

This nation, based on the rule of law, glacially evolves from the eras approving of lynching slaves, stealing land from Native Americans and Mexicans, burning witches, and other religious insults which found their way into the statutes of our state legislatures but are now being removed one by one as, lawyers, mostly, make us look back at our forming ideals amd point out to us, case by case, that we are not living up to them.

The Mosque situation is one of those vexing problems crowding into an already problem plagued society just when the hypocrits among us, beginning to outnumber the non-hypocrits, need a rational discussion of life, libery, and the pursuit of happiness, and what that means to all citizens of the US of A.
