Icon Massachusetts but we have/had an equivalent...

So, yes, not those Essex girls, Mick would need to comment on them but here in the Bay State we have or had in my youth Revere girls...or as they would pronounce their home town, Reveerahh! Known for essentially all the same traits as Essex girls...big hair, small brain, very willing to fool around...usually a victim of a tanning salon year round and loud, dressed in skimpy clothing in every season, heels are high, cut of the tops they wore very low. Oddly most seemed to want to be hair dressers, manicurists, make-up artists, or you know...live the dream of owning a tanning salon. It was a Revere girl that introduced me to what a spray tan was when standing before me without a stitch on I wondered about her "full body color" and she said "It's a spray, honey, it's better than going to the tanning salon."

I jokingly asked "Do they apply clear coat over that?" and she said "That's for nails, silly!" holding up her hands to show off her 2 and a half inch painted claws before...well...the conversation ended and the reason we often pursued Revere girls began. There were a bunch of rules about being with Revere girls like it was a bad idea to cheat on your girlfriend with a Revere girl because they were heavily perfumed and you would be too even if you spent time just chatting with one. Also it was a common joke among guys that if someone got in your car and it smelled of perfume to say "So you've been to Revere."

I mean, I look back fondly on them and those times but it is probably not appropriate conversation at this point. The other sort of humorous thing was winters in the Northeast tend to be harsh and even in the dead of winter Revere girls would wear skimpy clothes and heels and the jacket would be for looks not comfort so the constant refrain was "I'm freezing!"

Also, there were basically two types of Revere girls, type one generally were constantly playing the field so you would be one of many male suitors, the other, if she liked you, would never let you out of her sight...I mean never...I think basically because she knew one (or several) of her fellow Revere girls would be out to lure you away. It was often a badge of honor to some of these women to have slept with some other woman's guy. The battles tended to be epic. Minor flirting would turn into giant screaming matches on the street...and these girls swore like drunken sailors at each other.

Not sure they exist at this point and probably this is entirely politically incorrect to discuss but what can I say...that's the way it was. I'm guessing that Revere girls and Essex girls would have coexisted wonderfully.  The only difference may be that Revere girls tended not to be likely to get a nickname like "Chubby" as the level of competition and desire to fit into a tiny dress left that as not really likely.

My youth was most definitely misspent. That's my snapshot of 1980s Massachusetts for today.
