Icon I don't know what it is like in Europe...

I've not been there in a while. I always feel relaxed when I am there, but I am always on vacation when I am there. People in Europe don't seem as crazed as some people in the US. Plus, as everybody knows, we have more guns than people in this country and that is saying something. I feel like the death threat in the US now is as common as birthday cards.

I live in Massachusetts, so I don't have it as bad as others in the USA. Here we don't have a lot of Trump supporters. So, I typically don't hear a lot of nonsense. I mean, they are here, right on the street where I live down at the end of it, I've got a pair. One that has had a "FUCK BIDEN" flag up for over a year, the other that makes his own handmade signs and puts them up all around his yard. They scream nonsense like "TRUMP WON!" or "THE MEDIA IS THE REAL ENEMY!" among other insanity. He does have a nice little sign up at times that says "FREE EGGS" which I always think is fun. I think of saying things to him like, "You know giving away free eggs is anti-capitalism! Commie!" but I wonder if he would see the humor in that.

One of his chickens got loose this summer and made its way all the way up the street to my house. Not a normal thing for chickens to travel that far. My guess is it was a liberal chicken and it had heard about me and so was trying to escape from the weirdo. A woman knocked on my door because she found the chicken loitering outside my house and she asked if it was my chicken. I could see in the chicken's eyes that it desperately wanted me to say yes, but I didn't. I've felt guilt ever since.

I don't want to be all gloom and doom. I do despair for the people that support Trump because I don't think they at all understand what he would unleash on them if he regained power. I also don't think they understand how much he actually despises them. Trump just said he is hoping for an economic crash in the next 12 months. This is a guy running for president. Why would you want a guy that hoping for the US to fail to be president? Yet, he openly says these things and his fans ignore them.

It is depressing. I admit that. I get depressed. I can't believe that in talking to a Trump fan, before you can even get to anything of substance, you've got to spend hours trying to clear up what is reality. Generally, both sides quit and throw their hands up before you can do that.

My resolution for 2024 is to hold on to the positive, in the face of all of the gloom and doom, and in my interactions with others, to do nothing to bring them down. There is too much gloom and doom. There is too much hate and anger being passed around. I don't want to contribute to it. I want to be the anti-Trump. The person not attempting to piss people off and divide them, scare the living shit out of them, and make them hate others.  And you know, if I have to kill some people to get there, so be it. You only live once...or is it twice?
