Hello Again,
Since my opinions have swung from `hot air` to `incredibly offensive` in barely 72 hours, would you care to enlighten me regarding the truth of this situation?
I think the case that I'm stating has reasonable merits (it's far from perfect) and will certainly tide the country over in the short term. I've observed a lot of innuendo and hysteria from the left regarding the conservative agenda, yet the one thing that is notably absent is a substantive cornerstone as to an alternative. I respect Messers Vidal and Chomsky as thinkers, yet I'm not aware of their forwarding of any workable alternative. (Would you prefer a relativley sane debate or a chance to wring your hands and get hysterical) I'm not sure where I read this, but the countries who come out from under a right-wing junta have a better chance of getting back in the game again than the countries who are under the boot of a left-wing junta.
For every malady that has been lumped on the new boys (business cronying, fuel, the Far East standoff, the economy, race-baiting, water purity etc) The former administration either was guilty of the same thing or simply ignored it because it was too much trouble.
Why bother going mano a mano with OPEC to make sure fuel prices stay reasonable when you can hang out with the bright and the beautiful on the coasts? (Now they did that, they can lose the election and give Daschle and his boys some good material for their stand-up routines..."They're all OPEC's stooges...they're all OPEC's stooges - we know this could have been somewhat prevented by Billy Jeff, but he did nothing so we could tell you that they're all stooges")
All for now,
Richard
PS - Since Ms Streisand is probably in or close to the top percentage of tax-payers, will she accept the cut? Or will she publicly donate her cut to a needy cause? Maybe this can prove to me and my cynical friends whether she has any integrity - or if she's a tap dancer and will gladly pocket any money anybody gives her...
