Richard,
Whether or not you agree (or even if I, myself, disagree) with what I said in my last post, you said that the lefties had presented no workable alternative and I think I showed that they've presented plenty of workable alternatives, you just don't like them.
>Like I've said, I was under the impression that even if >Roe V Wade is written out of law, abortion would *still* >be *available*. It would be up to the states to administer >this `right` as they see fit.
Again, I'm not going to even say where I stand on this issue, but it's pretty obvious to me that if states get to choose whether or not to allow abortions, then certain states will outlaw them. In which case, someone who lives in, for argument's sake, Texas and wants an abortion will be up a certain creek without a paddle. You can't possibly think that overturning Roe v. Wade would have no effect on abortion rights.
>Are you happy paying more taxes than you need to?
Need is a very subjective term. I'm incredibly happy paying the $1.50 per year that funds the NEA, and I'd be happy to pay more than that. I'm happy paying to give children a good education, and I'd be happy to pay more for that too. I'm less happy paying 30-40% of my taxes to beef up a military that's already so beefed up that we could destroy the earth about 100 times over.
But anyway, the main point of this post is that you asked for workable alternatives, and I presented them. While you may not like them, they're certainly workable.
best,
Scott
