Police reports are one side of the story in things like this. Is a police report--any police report--the gospel? No, absolutely not as has been show over an over in a million different cases.

It's one side of the story, told by individuals who have or can have a vested interest in not looking bad themselves. I'm sure by the time this report was filed they absolutely knew who they'd arrested.

If you've never seen a cop being a total turd in Cambridge, come on up. We'll stand around Harvard Square on a Friday night (hey--that's today) and just wait.

All of that said, I'm betting something set Gates off further on being upset. I don't think it was racist, really. I think it was the overly headstrong being overly headstrong. Do I think Gates likely was bitchy--maybe, but hell--get out of the man's house and go away.
