Is how this encounter has grown from what I earlier called a "case of the ass" to that of one with racial overtones. Many people refuse to believe that many encounters with the police end up where the subject directs them.

Yes, police can be assholes and often are, but many times, people do what we call "talk themselves into a ticket." And to me, it's obvious that is what Gates did and now is being portrayed as a victim. How it is getting to this is how black men are treated in America and this is racial profiling, is beyond me.

From reading the report and from seeing some interviews, it seems to me that Gates had a case of "don't you know who I am" celebritism, thrown in with some other issues as well.
