Thank you, Eric, for putting so much thought into your response. You did answer my question
and pretty much confirmed what I had thought to be the case. So often we hear from gun
advocates that more guns will lead to safer conditions and fewer crimes. Basically, they see more
weapons as a deterrent to criminal behavior. I think for every crime foiled there would be far more
relatively minor encounters that will escalate to violent confrontations. It's hard to quantify,
perhaps there is a good study out there, but given what we all know about male egos,
adrenaline's effects, the lack of adequate training of the general public, the power that
possessing a weapons holds, and the illusion that the ordinary citizen can match the action of the
heroes seen on the movie screen, I believe that tragic things are very likely to result. I'm willing to
listen to an alternative perspective.
