I'm not sure WHAT people will do when trump is gone. At this point, there may be enough people to just flood in and take over his plans. They won't be the Messiah figure that he is, but they are the brains behind what they're planning with Project 2025 or whatever it's called. The way people follow him makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, but then, that's what happens in a cult. Right after he was elected and I knew my ex-husband had voted for him, I bought a book about how to get a family member out of a cult. That was before people were talking about trump being a cult leader, but I could just tell, the same way many sane people could tell, that he was the Emperor with no clothes and no one was calling him out on it and it just kept getting worse. Around here, every thing he did, shut down the government-so what; take babies away from their parents-they shouldn't have been criminals and broken the law (which they didn't) by crossing the border; not allow people from certain countries to enter the US even when they had been cleared and planning to come here for ever-they were probably terrorists and don't need them here. And these cultists believed this shit. trump did not do ANYTHING for the people of Georgia but the Republicans love him. I did have a neighbor that never liked trump and is now a staunch Democrat after being a Republican because of him but that rarely happens down here.

The same thing with Marge. She was originally in Lucy McBath's district. (Lucy is a Congresswoman whose son, a black teenager named Jordan Davis, who was shot and killed in Jacksonville Florida by a white man. Jordan and some friends were in a car and this white guy thought their music was too loud so he shot in the car and killed Jordan, her only child. Lucy became a Congresswoman in 2018 after working in gun violence prevention groups.) Before Marge decided to run and while she was in Lucy's district, a friend was sending me video of "this lunatic woman" who's family owns a large, well-known Atlanta area construction company. Marge decided to run in 2020 in the same district as Lucy McBath and I'm sure she knew that in that Metro Atlanta district, she would really have an uphill battle, but then her luck changed and the Congressman from Georgia 14 said he would not be seeking reelection. Well, where better for a lunatic, super conservative, trump loving woman to run for Congress than in very rural, very red North West Georgia? In the primary, it came down to Marge and a BRAIN SURGEON. The people in NW Georgia could choose between Marjorie Taylor Greene and a neurosurgeon and made the logical choice (in the Upside Down)--Marge.

Since Marge has been our Congresswoman, she has down nothing, not one thing, nada, for this district. She has not introduced any bills to bring any money back to this district or anything. Still the people like her. I don't know why except that she's not a Democrat. I can tell you a few things to show you what I mean about why not being a Democrat is so important down here. First of all, if you read the Time Magazine article I posted, it talked about how one day I just said F*ck it, I'm wearing my Stacey Abrams shirt to the grocery store. No big deal, right? It was a huge deal. What if people who I knew professionally saw me? What if parents of my kids' friends saw me? What if some f*cking red neck saw me and decided to follow me to my car and follow me home or something? Someone stole the "Paulding County Democrats" magnet off of my car and I guarantee you it wasn't because they liked it. Twice people have stolen yard signs from my yard: once it was my across the street neighbor who I thought was a friend who stole my Obama sign and threw it in her trash can. Then within 2 hours of putting it up, someone stole my Hilary sign. The day after she lost, they threw it back in my yard. "Nice white ladies" down here are very genteel and, as such, are very nice to "black folk" or at least when speaking face to face. So when the white Paulding Dems Vice Chair asked the African American Paulding Dems Secretary where a good place to get a trophy in town was, the Secretary raved about a place and said how nice they were when she went there for NAACP trophies and Paulding Dem trophies. The Vice Chair went there and asked about getting what she needed and said she needed it to say whatever "Paulding Democrats" and the owner a "Nice White Lady" who had been so nice to the Secretary's face told the white Vice Chair how she really felt: "I'm not doing anything for the damn Demonrats. I hate Joe Biden." And it went downhill from there. The owner of a business hates Democrats so much that they turned business away. Other businesses have put signs on their doors saying: If you don't support trump or if you don't admit that the 2020 election was stolen or we don't want your business if you're vaccinated and I'm not making my staff get the jab so just go somewhere else. People that think like that are going to eat up the crap that Marge does and hang on every word that trump says.

Those are not the people that we're looking to get to vote for Democrats though. We're looking for the people that may be register but don't regularly vote or people who aren't registered. We're looking at people who actually are turned off by what Marge and trump are doing and are more concerned about reproductive rights for women and affordable healthcare and climate change, etc. We're really looking to make sure we get young people registered and engaged in the total election process. Not just in voting, but also in working to get out the vote, to run for office, to encourage other youth/minority populations to get involved. We're looking to find Democrats who, in this really, really conservative district think that their vote won't make a difference and educate them about how much of a difference it does make. This November only 8 votes separated the Republican who won the Mayor's race in a town in Paulding County from the Democrat who ran. EIGHT votes! AND a democrat actually won a seat on that City council so now we have 2 Dems on there. Overall, there's little to no hope for the yahoos around here, BUT there is a lot of potential if we look to the youth, latino, and African American voters and work to educate them about the importance of fulfilling their civic duty!
