***......and so far I haven't seen any evidence that society is crumbling because because people can eat where they like or marry the person they love. ***
Not yet. Let's say a couple of these newlyweds leave the steps of city hall in San Fran and they're all excited to go on their honeymoon to Vegas. They can't wait to get there and they feel the speed limits in Cali are unfare and unjust. So they go 90 mph. Then they get there and they want to have a wonderful dinner. They go to a restaurant and eat like kings (or queens) and after dinner want to have a joint to relax. Although there are laws that prohibit smoking they light up anyway. After their honeymoon they get back home to San Fran and find some of their neighbors a bit upset that they were allowed to get married even though 65% (or so) of California voted against same sex marrages. The neighbors are so upset that our happy couple now feels threatened, so they feel the need to purchase a gun and a concealed weapons permit. That too is against the law in Cali. Too bad says the couple. We have a right to protect ourselves regardless of what the law says. And on it goes.
Personally I don't care what people do. What I do I care about is that everyone should follow the law of the land. If you don't like a law, get it changed. Simply choosing to ignore ANY law for any reason will lead to anarchy. It may seem innocent now but this situation in San Fran is going to open up a whole other can of worms.
