CD's over here range in price from around AUS$19 through a CD club (not the biggest range, mostly mainstream and long waits for new releases), A$21 in places like Kmart and Big W (limited range) through to A$32 in our local CD shop (a last resort when I'm desperate for a new or obscure release).
When I travel to the big smoke (Perth), I usually take a list of things I've heard (mostly on JJJ) and can't locate down here, and visit JB Hi-fi. Their prices are at the lower end of the range and their alternative section (read JJJ playlists) is extensive.
We're heading to Perth in a fortnight and my list currently reads: 78 Saab, Ben Birchall, Claire Bodich & the Feeding Set, Little Birdy, Jack Johnson, Donovan Frankenreiter, Lemonheads, The Thrills, Ghostwriters, Backsliders, Lior (sp?), Art of Fighting and Athlete. Looks like being an expensive trip...
