You don't want the gig???? Hell, I'll take it then! I've always found that one of the reasons they sounded so great was especially because of Mitch's drumming. Really surprised that all you're hearing is a "drum roll". I think he was a great polyrhythmic player, really had more of a jazz feel, and a real stand-out from the usual rock drummers of the time, except for maybe Ginger Baker who I thought really ruled. What about Buddy Miles, would you play bass in Band of Gypsies? He was more of a straight time keeper; funky as all hell.
Personally, I would be happy just to carry Jimi's guitar case, if offered...
