For example, is it out of a deep understanding of what real patriotism is or one of misguided patriotism? Is it out of the perception of the opportunity to join in a MTV/Hollywood movie like created endeavor, or one that is understood for what it is?
I don't know any 17 year old who is critically refective in this manner, it's all testosterone a la fuck it or kill it, but he does sound too grown up too quickly and is probably thinking that he is pleasing some sad bastard by doing this pathetic gesture
