Sure am glad they didn't just play on emotions or anything!
Did anyone ever think that murders were sweet and innocent? Of course they are violent, mostly senseless, and outright brutal acts. Bats, chains, knives, guns, water, rope, fire, poisons, cars, falls, hacking, slashing, dismembering, decapitating, strangling, slicing, dicing, blasting, choking, pulverizing, - it never ends.
So, how is our world made better by the death penalty? Are we as a society any safer with a murderer in a grave compared with them locked up in a prison? Does it deter murder?
And please don't tell me you bought that pile of crap about there being zero point zero innocent people ever put to death! Did you even read the stories of the four that Ryan pardoned?
