Yes, there are a lot of shared life experiences for sure among black Americans, and they most surely live with the consequences of being denied employment, educational, and housing opportunities, to name but a few. And a thing that may go unnoticed is that they don't accrue the social capital that whites have had. White kids have been the beneficiaries of so many of their parent's relationships (business, social, etc.) No wonder, the net worth of black America is 10 % of white America. And I take your point on reaching out to white Americans who feel threatened by social, economic, and demographic changes. I'm just not sure what to say to them.
