So, what is it that creates a race this close when the facts of what should be going on are so remarkably clear?

OK, I also don't think the race should be close and I have many reasons for that, not just that Trump is a horrible person and one of the worst candidates ever, he has also run an absolutely epically bad campaign where all he has done is attempt to appeal to his base, the worst loons that will vote for him, and divide the country.

It generally was always common knowledge that the way you ran a presidential campaign was to run to your base during a primary, move to the middle and run to be a president for everyone in the general. That always worked. The goal was always the same, you need to bring in voters from the left, right, and middle to win. You have to have a coalition of voters, not just your own base, because having that is not enough. You need to pull in independents and people from the opposing party as well. Winning campaigns, in the past have done this. Basically name a presidential candidate that won, and that is how they won.

In this race, only one candidate has done that. Republicans spoke at the Democratic convention. A vast array of Republicans from previous administrations, including a large number that were in the Trump administration, have endorsed Harris. She has built the coalition, the one that wins an election. Democrats like her, independents like her, and Republicans like her. She will get millions and millions of votes from each group.

Trump only has attempted to appeal to his MAGA base, that is it. He told voters he did not need them to win. He told Republican voters who voted for other Republicans in the primary he did not want or need them. He literally told them they were out of MAGA and were not part of the club. So he has not even tried to appeal to all Republicans. He divided even them.

It should be impossible for him to win. He just does not have the votes, he is not trying to get them, his campaign has been closing up shop and leaving states for a while, and his rally crowds are now tiny. He's made no effort to reach out to say to voters he wants to be a president for the entire country, instead insisting that if he becomes president he will be the president only for those that voted for him. If he does not win your state, and your state has a crisis and needs aid, you get none. He wants to be the "retribution" president and kill and jail the people he has built up as enemies...and those people he claims are enemies, are regular Americans.

He claims he will unleash the US military in states that did not support him. He claims he will jail and kill those that opposed him. He's got a list of 350 people he intends to go after first and make an example of. He's not hiding who and what he is.

Now, I think probably at a minimum 80% of our population does not agree with that. Sure, there are plenty, too many, sickos out there that do, but most people do not want this...and he has made no appeal to those people.

I think the only way he could win is if something goes radically wrong in the 7 swing states, and this is his plan. He and his worst allies are asking states run by Republicans to declare him the winner whether he wins or not and then to again attempt to send a fake set of electors to cast votes for him. This is their "Hail Mary" or Green Bay Sweep, or whatever you want to call it. I believe they will attempt to make a mess of election day in the swing states and you will have officials in these states that are Republican run, declaring him the winner before the votes are counted to ensure chaos.

I believe everybody is aware of this though and so there should be a plan in place to prevent that from happening.

I think the idea that this race is so close is a bit of an illusion, perpetrated by a lot of questionable pollsters, and the MAGA strategy of just always claiming he is winning, he is way ahead, he already won. Sadly, all of the media, doesn't matter which you are looking at repeats this.

No doubt we have to win the swing states, and maybe some margins could be close, but if things become a massive win for Harris, this will not be shocking because based on the evidence, the coalition she has built, the really hardworking campaign she has run, and the fact that there has been almost no Trump campaign at all this time...she should win.

I think the Trump campaign has a strategy, it is to claim victory (they already are) and then scream fraud (they already are) no matter how big his loss and file dozens of lawsuits immediately. Have his allies do all they can in the swing states to slow or stop the vote count, create total chaos and not concede his loss again while attempting to push his followers to commit violent acts.

That's it, there is no campaign, their are no field offices, there is no outreach to voters outside his base, he and his family are funneling as much of the cash that comes in to themselves. If this is close, sure, it says some bad things about Trump supporters because none of them should be buying his con at this point but plenty are.

And why is the corporate MSM behaving this way?

The media, I think, has trapped itself in a process where they feel they have to give Trump real consideration as a candidate because he supposedly represents "half the country" but the truth is, he does not. This is a total illusion. Most of the country would never want him to represent them. I mean, just 20-25 years ago this guy would never even have made it through a primary. Now he has been the leading candidate for the Republican party for a decade. They should not overstate who and what he is. He is, in reality, a fringe candidate, that represents a loud, poorly informed, and very angry minority. He does not even represent all Republicans, just a percentage of them, but that percentage is loud enough to control the party in a primary. He drives the party through creating fear within the party. If you do not bow down to him and kiss his ring, he will turn his supporters on you and you and your family will start getting death threats and live in constant danger. He is good for the media, he will say and do vile things to get attention, he will push his followers to commit violence, he openly attempts to destroy our justice system and works toward a breakdown of law and order. If you support Democrats, the guy is a gift that just keeps on giving because he makes the other side look so awful. I don't think they can help using that, they report it like it is normal, like it is just what the other side is because it is just so easy to do that. It is not normal though, it is not just normal politics, essentially there was a hostile takeover of one of our major political parties, right before our eyes, and oddly both Donald Trump and Elon Musk have been having regular off the books conversations with Putin as they campaign.

The media should flatly tell us who he is and who he represents because it is not the American people, but they have let this ride right up to another election day.
