"Gun Control absolutely works in these nations!" - Peter Yes it works to enslave you. Don't forget about the second ammendment and why we have it. The founding fathers put it there for a reason and they wrote it because they employed it to establish our independence to begin with from a tyranical government. The most interesting chart on that link was the last one. You'll notice that we have WAY more guns per capita than all of the other countries on it, yet per capita homicides (with guns) isn't all that high comparatively to other countries with far less weapons per capita. And even though they said they included some that have active wars, most of them that are way up there do not. What does that tell you about gun laws? They probably aren't going to stop criminals.I think the following chart from last year's FBI statistics is even more interesting because it will show you that many of the states with the most restrictive gun laws in the country (CA, NY, NJ, IL etc) have very high gun violence rates compared to those that don't. http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2011/crime-in-the-u.s.-2011/tables/table-20It is also interesting to note that while politicians like Dianne Feinstein, who boldly claimed the day before the election in Nov that if Obama won, She would immediately re-introduce her failed assault weapons ban bill, meaning military style rifles. And they are fevereshly pursuing that as we speak. In fact Sheriff Biden was all over the news today about doing something about it right away, even if it required an executive order. Wow. But if you look at that chart, you'll see that there are very few homicides by rifle compared to handguns (which would of course be next on their agenda). Don't they look at the statistics? And the last few times we've had mass shootings with these types of weapons, why is it always some psycopath that shouldn't have had access to a gun in the first place? Now given what I've pointed out, it should be clear that the gun is not the problem and that the people that do these things with them are. So before they ban (current goal) or flat confiscate (probably next goal) millions of guns from millions of sane and lawful citizenry as punishment, shouldn't they be rushing to reinstate state mental hospitals and just do better follow up on the already decent NICS system for gun ownership? They had an assault weapons ban from 94 to 04 and it did nothing to curb gun violence. The FBI charts will bear that out, so why are they going after that so called "assault rifle" again in particular so vehemently? Especially when it was political suicide the last time they did it?I have a pretty good idea why, and you should too. It's in the first sentence I wrote here.
