I'm nothing like Alex Jones. He's an asshole, I definately don't pay attention to him because he does make gun owners look bad. and I most certainly haven't said anything here that sounds like him.

Piers Morgan is an asshole too that has no idea what he is talking about either. He has NO business talking about an American culture or an American right that he knows nothing about. But apparently some Americans (like you) buy his schtick. They are both showmen though and that's it at the end of the day though.

But, like you, everybody in this thread seems to want to pigeon hole me as some kind of gun nut. As if to say that anybody that owns a gun is one. But that is very far from the truth and I've only been trying to help you understand the culture of it, because you clearly hold that sterotype even if it is wrong.

First of all, I no longer hunt for sport or for food. I stopped about 20 years ago. The reason why is because I was very good at it but once I started to waste meat (because I had too much), I knew I was doing it for the wrong reasons (never wanted to do it for sport) and just stopped doing it altogether. I most certainly know and respect the reasons for doing it though. And I still WILL have no problem killing anything that threatens my livestock, pets, myself or family. Nowadays that is mostly coyote, but could very possibly also include some nefarious meth head that breaks into the home with ill intent. Thankfully, the latter hasn't happened. But I'd be ready if it did. I will also shoot pests such as rats in the barn, groundhogs tearing up foundations or even occasionally a pesky possum, but even those I just run off unless they start damaging stuff.

I learned about guns at an early age though and before I could have one, my parents made sure I had been through ODNR hunter safety courses (Dad even did them with me) and was taught everything about firearm handling and safety. I very much enjoy them as a hobby but mostly use them for sport and target practice nowadays. I'm not the kind of guy that would even think of using them against people (unless in self defense) and so I am naturally disturbed by this administration's latest push to restrict them again, punishing millions of us for a few nutjobs that weren't raised right. How is that fair? Is it fair because YOU don't understand, see a need, fear guns? I don't know.

For the rest of this thread, how about you guys stop comparing me to people I am not, whether that is Alex Jones or your own fantasy stereotype and just address my talking points? I've noticed that only Peter has done that so far and that is fair.

ETA: Here is Piers talking to someone (tonight) that is much like me. Ben Shipiro. Ben gets it. Piers does not and indeed tries to bully him, which is the tactic that you want to use against me as well. What part of "shall not be infringed" do you not get? Piers clearly doesn't understand because he's a brit so I don't expect him to, but I do expect better from you (hopefully) Americans.
