So to put one more well-uttered (by the hawks and Bushco) sentence in front of yours: If we don't support the President, there is no hope.
Without hope there is hopelessness. When all is hopeless, why even get out of bed in the morning? Without a reason to get out of bed, there's no reason to live. Without a reason to live, death is the final solution.
So if we're not going to support the Presidunce, we may as well kill ourselves?
