Your state is one of the key states. Yeah, I had my own freakout when I heard Carville a couple weeks ago or so say Biden was definitely out, which in that moment seemed to me to be out of the blue.
However, once everything began to happen after that, I thought, well, this is it, Joe is getting out and I believe now, it was the best move. He was looking fragile, the media and Democrats would not let it go, and so, I saw this happening as inevitable. There just was no way to go forward with Joe.
It appears there was behind the scenes debates on how they should handle who would step in for Joe, and I think those talks were very serious because Obama and Pelosi were on the side of not handling things off to Harris. That there needed to be a process on the convention floor to decide who the candidate would be.
The argument for doing the floor fight was, it would be a massive media event. Everyone would tune in to watch a contested convention where nobody would know the outcome until the dust settled. I basically feel that if you do that, you could be asking for trouble and I see no reason for it. Go with Harris, she was on the ticket people were voting for, so she makes perfect sense.
Raised $50 million on the first day people believed she was the new candidate. So, looks like the donors, the people, everybody is in. The Black Caucus endorsed her.
I think Obama and Pelosi should use their voices to unite the party, not ask for a delegate floor vote, so we can move forward and start winning this election.
And we need the people like you to get out there with the candidate we are backing right now, not continue to wait to have a floor fight later in August. Time is important here.
