Well, for me, the most glaring of the many problems with Alito is his opinion on the "unitary executive". Our system of government has functioned as effectively as it has in its journey to becoming the world's oldest functioning democracy in large part because of its intricate system of checks and balances, a system that Alito clearly doesnt believe in. And I remind you that, assuming we ever have another real election in this country, the unitary executive powers that Alito has championed will someday reside in a democratic president. So President Clark will be able to use the NSA to monitor your church--will be able to use the IRS to shut down David Dobson and the mega churches, will be able to arrest those he suspects of being or assisting domestic terrorists, like Rev Phelps or Ann Coulter, without benefit of trial... President Clark may decide that you, because of your support for right wing causes, are a danger to the republic, and have you shipped off to Guantanamo. And if there is never a legitimate election in this country again... Well, Alito will have helped destroy this country in that way. And I'll be seeing you across the barricades.
