I may be in over my head--lord knows I don't know much worth saying--but isn't it possible that asking how our lives have been changed by recent events is kind of like asking a former slave how his life has been changed by the Emancipation Proclamation, only asking the question on January 2, 1863?
It is hard to tell what direction future events may spin or be spun in. But fundamental changes to the laws that govern a nation have far-reaching, important effects. Sometimes it takes a while for those effects, whether for good or ill, to kick in and become demonstrable on a daily basis.
I want my children, and theirs, and theirs, to grow up in a nation that is free, with the government kept on a pretty short leash. Every time someone adds a link to the chain by which we restrain our government, I worry about that.
