Okay please help me out a bit. I am no fan of Rush Limbaugh, and that has far more to do with his condescending tone than his contenet. ( I am forced to listen at work, but all hear is the tone, I don't focus on the content when possible) But I think I have questions about all the fuss about his commenets. I looked hard at them and did see a tape of it in context. And in my opion what he said dosen't seem to be racist. Foolish, ill-worded and ill-timed sure, but not maliciously raciat. He said something that dosen't seem unreasonable as far as it related to the media , it hasen't been that long since the topic of African American quarterbacks was a viable discussable topic is it?
I am not defending him as I prefer him to stay on his own show and not be injected into the mainstream sports media. But is what he said truly a racist comment or do we just brisstle when someone in the media points out that someone is black?
I don't feel bad for him, in the least, but maybe you all may have some thoughts to put this episode in perspective.
Rush's comments are below. Are they racist or is he saying what people are saying in thier homes and in bars??
"I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL," Limbaugh said. "The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. They're interested in black coaches and black quarterbacks doing well. I think there's a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of his team that he really didn't deserve. The defense carried this team."
As I said I'm trying to work this out in my head but your imput would be appriciated.
