On a sad note for me personally, my just turned 21 year old cousin Ryan, was dispatched to Kuwait about 9 days ago.

Now something to consider. In the wake of 9/11 our government had promised to allocate about 4 billion dollars to outfit our fire and police departments with the proper first responder equipment to allow them to protect themselves and aid American citizens in the event of chem/bio terrorist attacks. How much has our government provided thus far? ZERO! How much is our government about to hand over to Turkey, a country I should point out already can boast military superiority over Iraq, so we can use it as a staging area? 26 Billion dollars! 6 BILLION of which is allocated to improve Turkey's military force. Now, is that making you feel safe?

We also have done almost nothing to protect our nations largest seaports which is a gigantic Achilles heel in terms of defending this nation from terrorist attack. Why have we done so little according to our current administration? The huge expense and a general lack of funds. Wait...we have spent how much already on this war with Iraq and we've got 26 billion for Turkey, who wants to hold out for a ransom in excess of 30 billion. So what's our priority here? Defending our own nation, our own citizens, or attacking a country that has absolutely ZERO potential of staging an attack on US soil? Iraq has no WOMD only a stockpile to potentially develop them, which is unlikely in the extreme at this point, or possibly the potential to sell some of it's stockpile to a potential terrorist. There are currently about 50 countrys with WOMD. If you were to begin listing the POTENTIAL threats to the US in order of most dangerous to least dangerous Iraq would more than likely fall close to the bottom of the list. I'm not saying there are not reasons to argue that Saddam must go...but I'd say it's pretty damn clear that if our current administration is trying to sell us on the fact that this war is to protect American citizens, they are doing a shit job of convincing any one with half a brain that that's their first priority. The FACTS don't support the PROPAGANDA! By the way thanks for the articles David.
