| The thing reads like something out of a Terry Gilliam movie. But they seem to be serious. Hoo boy! On a musical note, I'm thrilled to announce that I've joined forces with Hans Zimmer and his Media Ventures team as a film composer. db |
funny, my roomie was just watching Brazil tonight.
congrats, db, on your newest step forward. hope the experience is fulfilling for you. i'll look forward to seeing the results proudly displayed in the windows of Towers and Wherehouses across the country. yes, i'm pulling your leg, yanking your chain, jiggling your handle. (*flush!*)
hey, what's this i hear about Iraq owing France $1.8 billion for past weapons sales, etc? if true, then hence (some of) France's reluctance to see their indebted tyrant be regime-changed, eh? but i feel there is some integrity in their stance, nonetheless. as far as them being "cowardly", they lost 1.4 million in WWI and 100,000+ in WWII. doesn't sound so yellow-bellied to me; sounds like a country that has truly been there, done that, and is forever highly cognizant of the costs, human and otherwise.
as i see it, the problem with this whole Gulf War Pt II scenario is that
* there are many valid reasons for confronting Saddam
and
* just as many valid reasons for resisting the Bush administration's imperialism.
this slope is slippery and ever-tilting.
i try to accept and understand the foundations/experiences for the many different viewpoints and beliefs in this world, but why anyone would support such a secretive, arrogant and elitist administration is beyond me. let's not confuse uncritical obedience or feelings for revenge with patriotism, please. i believe in open & responsive government, and we are getting none of that - and won't for the remainder of this latest one-term Bush debacle. sadly, i no longer bother to hope that we won't do irreparable damage to our international credibility in the meantime.
