Don't know if you ever heard this Dr. Suess story but I think it's the one with the most relevance to this war with Iraq. Anyway, my intent was not to begin a debate about Hitler and Germany, it was in fact the point that Saddam and Iraq are not in the same league. That's a fairly weak comparison to say what happened with Germany could happen with Iraq. The Germans were a far more potent and dangerous lot. The current estimate is that Saddam's forces are at 20% of what they were during the Gulf war. If you remember they weren't too frightening then.

The big fear is that Saddam is going to let loose with anything and everything he's got as quickly as possible in the hope of creating confusion and mayhem. He knows he's got no chance in a fight with us so he'll attempt to set fire to the oil fields, fire missiles at Israel, let loose chem or bio weapons, all to create as much damage and mayhem as he can before it's over. It will be over quick no doubt but the risks to our soldiers are the greatest. I do believe the risk increases as we wait, not really in a Hitler/Germany manner, but it gives Iraq more time to plan the desperate form of mayhem that will be their only rebuttal to our attack. It's sad but knowing we're locked into this attack right now it seems the best thing to do is to get it going quickly since there's no stopping it. I'd prefer that to putting our soldiers in more danger by waiting. We will crush Iraq, it's just a matter of when at this point. It would take Saddam stepping down to stop us and I just don't see that happening.
